The Dunstable Town Council Ranger Service has taken delivery of a fully Electric Sweeper as part of the Council’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and improving the sustainability of its maintenance operations to create a cleaner, greener, and more inviting urban environment for its residents and visitors.

The Council is working towards becoming Carbon Neutral by 2030 and the purchase of the sweeper will help to reduce the Council’s carbon footprint. With a global focus on combating climate change and fostering ecological balance, the Council is dedicated to being at the forefront of sustainable practices.

Key Features of the Electric Eco City Sweeper:

Zero Emissions: Powered entirely by electricity, the sweeper produces zero tailpipe emissions, contributing to improved air quality and reduced environmental impact.

Low Noise Operation: The sweeper’s electric motor operates quietly, minimizing noise pollution and ensuring a more peaceful environment for residents.

Efficiency: Equipped with advanced sweeping technology and a wander suction hose for vacuuming bulky waste reaching narrow spaces such as flower beds and side benches.

Long Battery Life: The cutting-edge battery system provides ample operational time, allowing for extended sweeping sessions without the need for frequent recharging.

Adaptability: The sweeper is designed to navigate various terrains, ensuring that even hard-to-reach areas are well-maintained.

Cllr Liz Jones, Mayor of Dunstable Town, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “The acquisition of the Electric Eco City Sweeper underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering a clean, healthy, and attractive environment for our residents and visitors. We are proud to lead the way in adopting innovative solutions that prioritize the well-being of our community and the planet.”

The council set up the ranger service in 2010 to deal with local eyesores and environmental issues in public places that were often ignored or passed over – a ‘see it, sort it’ approach. The service has grown over the years in response to new environmental challenges. The council is committed to continuing to provide this much-valued service to enhance street cleansing undertaken by Central Bedfordshire Council. Replacing equipment as the need arises provides a great opportunity to introduce environmentally friendly technology.

The new Electric Eco City Sweeper has already made its debut and is proving to be a great asset for The Town Rangers.
