Work was undertaken to give the Market Cross clock tower on The Square a bit of a facelift. The works to refurbish the clock tower included repainting the whole structure in its original colours, the replacement of the central stone seat with a more hard-wearing stone, replacing the coats of arms, renewing the lighting, re glazing the clock faces, re tiling the floor area and fixing the stone steps. The works were made possible with funding from the Central Bedfordshire Council Ward Councillor Grant Fund, Historic England’s High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) and Dunstable Town Council. The works were undertaken by David Nott and Sons Ltd and the project was overseen by the original designers of the structure, Project Design Studio Ltd.
