Unfortunately, except for two events on Tuesday, the last week has been a wipe out. I succumbed to the horrid cold and cough that is doing the rounds and had to withdraw from a couple of events over the weekend.
I did however manage to attend the Breakfast Networking event led by SR Wood and Son on Tuesday morning. They are a commercial letting a company based in Luton but cover the Dunstable area. It was a great opportunity to hear from several local based businesses about new business seeking office / warehouse space in Dunstable.
The same evening Lisa and I entertained a group of Brownies at Grove House. We gave them some of the history of Dunstable and talked to them about giving back to the community and volunteering. They told me that they are holding a coffee Morning on Saturday 11 March at the Methodist Church from 10am to help the girls achieve their charity badge with proceeds coming to my Mayoral charities. Please pop along and support them if you can.
I was sad not to be able to have attended the Mentmore Park Hedgerow planting day on Saturday, and the Friends of Priory House and Gardens Coffee Morning. Both events I understand were well attended and enjoyed by all.
Dunstable Wombles held a successful litter pick at Green Lanes on Sunday, which I wasn’t able to support on this occasion – a great group that do their very best to keep areas of Dunstable clean and free of litter.
The week ahead will see me visit Caritas Harmony, a local lady’s choir. I will be attending the Pride of Houghton Regis Awards night and the Mayor of Stotfold Civic Service.
My own Civic Service has changed dates to allow for the pre-election period to commence and will now be held on Friday 3 March at 7.30pm at the Salvation Army in Bullpond Lane. All are welcome to attend.
My final charity fundraiser of my year will be a Ploughman’s Supper evening on the 10 March 2023 at Grove House. Tickets can be purchased via democratic@dunstable.gov.uk
