A quiet week for Mayoral events, although a lot of planning meetings for future Civic events and activities.
On Monday, Cllr. Jones popped along to the Summer Activity at the Bennett Memorial Recreation Ground and saw the Obstacle Course being enjoyed by many despite the intense heat.
Tuesday, the Town Mayor attended the lunch of the Rotary Club at the Old Palace Lodge and talked to those present about her role, and how important it was to bring businesses in the community back together, at the same time including residents.
Cllr. Jones had meetings with various people and groups to talk through several future events and activities, including early planning for Remembrance Day this year.
On Friday, Cllr. Jones was a guest at the weekly group, Chums and Crumbs, a new social group activity available for anyone to pop by, have a hot drink, meet new people and much more.
On Saturday, the Mayor attended Middle Row markets before attending the opening of the new drive through Starbucks on Luton Road.
Sadly, several residents have been in contact due to their young people suffering bike theft. Cllr. Jones has been liaising with the Community Policing team with regards to this and they are reminding everyone to report any thefts as soon as they happen.
“Lovely to meet with and connect with residents this week. Quite a few people have asked if we have had results from Anglia in Bloom or Britain in Bloom yet… not yet, another few weeks to go before hopefully we can celebrate the fantastic efforts by all involved,” said Cllr. Jones.
We are looking forward to the Mayor’s charity event on Thursday, Lunch at the Palace!
